Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter real butter, no substitutions
  • 1 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup hot water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Melt butter in a 9x13 inch pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  • Stir to combine, but do not over-mix.
  • Pour the batter over the melted butter.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar over the top of the batter.
  • Carefully pour hot water over the butter and batter. Do not stir.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can sprinkle a little extra cinnamon sugar on top after baking.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious treat.
