In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Prepare glaze by whisking confectioner's sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Brush glaze on fritters and broil for 2-4 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes
Best eaten the same day. You can substitute all-purpose flour for white whole wheat flour if needed. Tart apples provide the best flavor. Adjust flour if batter is too thin due to juicy apples.
